1945 UL Flathead
NOS/OEM Engine

The engine is an NOS/OEM engine with matching mill case numbers and standard bore, with iron heads, and the plumber intake manifold set up with the Linkert carburetor with the J-slot air cleaner. The valve covers, head bolts, and a couple of other items have been chromed. The distributor and 6v square coil (along with the mounting clamps,) have been replaced with a magneto. I still have the distributor/circuit breaker and related parts if someone wants them.

The frame is a 47 bullneck frame with all it's loops and brackets on it. Mounted is a stock 4 speed stock transmission with original jockey top. It has an original oil bag and rear wheel with mechanical rear brake, hinged rear fender for which I also have the rear-stand to be mounted with it as soon as I get another rear stand clip to hold it onto the fender. Oh yes, I utilized a chromed transmission mounting plate instead of the parkerized item.

I have cad plated metal tube oil lines on the bike. The gas tanks are Drag Specialties 3.5 gallon items and am using a 2 light dash assembly......neither of those are original equipment. Rubber fuel lines are used.

The 49 glide front-end is mounted because my original Springer front-end is somewhere in the country with a friend who has yet to be located! Ugh! A 21" star hub reproduction front-wheel is mounted up front and has the chromed drum front brake. Steel glide risers are used in conjunction with the drag bars. A leather tool bag is mounted on the front-end above the headlight.

The beehive taillight was taken off by some kids at Mesquite, Nevada so I have another Beehive taillight coming to mount in it's place. The bike is still 6v with a 6v battery to operate the lights separate from the magneto ignition. It has the mechanical points operated voltage relay switch with the 32E brass tag 3 brush generator.

The original rocker clutch is being repaired at this time and I only had a temporary linkage in the picture to get me around until I mount the rocker clutch back on. Isn't it amazing what you can do with a few bolts, washers, nuts, a small piece of fuel line to use on the homemade peg, and the metal handle from a 5 gallon paint bucket in the middle of nowhere? Hey, it gets me home!

This engine runs GREAT and is most often a one-kicker. I tend to run the carburetor dry once I get somewhere and forget to turn the dang petcock on at times. This bike is FUN to ride around and reliable.

The exhaust are a set of drag pipes mounted with P-clamps. The seat is a Bates style solo seat with 5" springs. Oval floorboards are utilized and a set of clamp-on rear foot-pegs are out back for a passenger if needed. The 1 1/2" Primo primary belt drive uses a 99 tooth 11mm belt, and the final drive is an o-ring chain.

Last but not least, the bike is titled and registered. It is likewise titled and registered as a 1945 Harley Davidson UL. It is not a special construction or reconstructed motorcycle! That is a real biggie these days.

This bike is located in Southern Utah...
