This is not your usual 1971 Triumph Bonneville, it is a T120RV.  For those of you that know your Triumphs say, the T120RV did not come out until 1972 and you are correct.  However there were a few manufactured as 1971 models and this is the only one known to exist that is 100% ORIGINAL.  That is what sets this bike apart and makes it so *** VERY VERY RARE ***.

Most sources say the T120RV did not come out until 1972 and for biggest part that is correct as officially they did not.  However this is one of the *** VERY VERY RARE *** exceptions.

Here is what happened to the 1971 bikes.  First this was the first year of the oil in frame.  Second in 1971 the frame was extra heavy and 31" tall frame.  This made it ideal to chop and extend the front forks.  So when Triumph put the 5 speed gear box on a few they became the most highly sought after bike to chop and that is what happened to the 1971 T120RV.  In fact the 1971 T120RV that has been chopped is also a great find.

Should anyone know of another one of these bikes in 100% ORIGINAL condition  I would appreciate hearing from you with pictures and the VIN #.

When we analyze the VIN # T120RVGE26200 it tells the story.  The "T120R" says this is a 650cc BONNEVILLE. (for those of you that didn't know the "R" tells us that it is a ROAD bike)  Now comes the "V" that stands for FIVE SPEED. The "G" indicates that the bike was manufactured in June and the "E" tells us that it is a 1971.  As for the 26200 that informs us that it was the 26,100nd Triumph built that year because, the first one was 00100.
